Flipkart has launched a smartphone exchange program on Flipkart Minutes, enabling customers to exchange their old smartphones and upgrade it within 40 minutes.
The program includes real-time device valuation, instant doorstep pickup, and same-day value application, said the company in a press statement.
Touted as an industry-first, Flipkart announced that the service is now available in select PIN codes across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, with plans to roll it out to all operational cities in the near future.
The smartphone exchange program on Flipkart Minutes addresses the growing demand for faster, convenient, and sustainable smartphone upgrades, said the company.
The exchange process is fully integrated into the Flipkart Minutes app. After selecting an eligible smartphone, customers can enter basic details about their existing device and instantly view its valuation.
Further, the company said an exchange expert is assigned and reaches the customer’s doorstep within minutes. The entire process, including on-site device evaluation, pickup, and providing suitable offers on the new purchase, is completed in under 40 minutes.
Customers can exchange smartphones in any condition, including defunct devices to get an exchange value of up to 50% depending on the condition of the old device.
Commenting on the launch, Kanchan Mishra, Vice President, Flipkart Minutes, said, “With the launch of the smartphone exchange program on Flipkart Minutes, we’re bringing smartphone upgrades into quick-commerce, combining instant doorstep pickup, real-time exchange value, and a trusted refurbishment pipeline. This will ensure consumers upgrade faster and easier, but also reinforces our commitment to circular consumption by giving devices a meaningful second life through Flipkart Reset.”
Sharing on reducing long-haul logistics emissions, Ashutosh Chandel, Senior Director and Business Head, ReCommerce at Flipkart said, the integration of the smartphone exchange program into Flipkart Minutes is designed to accelerate India’s shift toward sustainability by simplifying the trade-in process. By offering rapid, hyperlocal pickup of used smartphones, even non-functional ones, the program minimizes emissions from long-distance transportation and supports device reuse through refurbishment or certified recycling.
In a recent conversation with FE Retail, Flipkart Minutes’ VP Kabeer Biswas shared the plan to touch around 800 dark stores by the end of 2025 from its present around 400 stores. He said Flipkart Minutes’ uniqueness lies in its relevance, reliability, and repeatability. Biswas envisions Flipkart Minutes becoming not just a service platform for instant refill, instead a utility and discovery-led destination.
“We have doubled our order-per-day run rate every 45 days since launch, and we are on track to scale to 800 stores by the end of 2025,” Biswas said.
