IKEA Names Juvencio Maeztu as Incoming CEO & President of Ingka Group

Juvencio will start the new role by November 5, 2025, and succeed Jesper who will stay in the company until end of February 2026.

Ingka Group, the largest IKEA retailer, has appointed Juvencio Maeztu as its next CEO and President, effective November 5, 2025. Maeztu, currently Deputy CEO, has spent 25 years with IKEA in multiple leadership roles, beginning in the early 2000s as a store manager in Spain. He is known for his purpose-driven leadership and extensive retail experience.

Maeztu will replace Jesper Brodin, who is stepping down after eight years as CEO and three decades with IKEA. Brodin will remain with the company until February 2026 before taking on an advisory role with the IKEA Foundation.

Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, Chairman of Ingka Holding B.V., credited Brodin for steering IKEA through “unprecedented times,” expanding into new markets, and embedding sustainability at the core of the business. He called Maeztu “a great fit for the job ahead.”

Maeztu said he was “deeply grateful” for the trust placed in him and committed to strengthening IKEA’s vision of affordability and life-at-home solutions.

Brodin said the decision to step down was “not easy,” but the time was right. He praised Maeztu’s “deep commitment to business, people, and planet” and expressed confidence in IKEA’s future.

"I'm thrilled and excited about what lies ahead for IKEA. The depth of our vision and our commitment to affordability and the low price is more than our business idea - it's our responsibility to the many people. We have the opportunity to amplify the essence of IKEA and play an even bigger role around life at home in the world,” said Juvencio Maeztu, incoming CEO of Ingka Group, IKEA.

"The decision to take the next step hasn’t been easy. A big heartfelt thank you to the IKEA community - over the years I have had the opportunity to get to know people across the world and develop deep friendships, memories and experiences that will last for a lifetime. For that I’m forever grateful. Going forward, I hope to apply my experience in business and sustainability to support and inspire more organisations,“ said Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group | IKEA.

Headquartered in Leiden, Netherlands, Ingka Group is the largest IKEA franchisee, operating 367 of the brand’s 422 stores as of 2018. The company is wholly owned by the Stichting INGKA Foundation and takes its name from IKEA’s Swedish founder, Ingvar Kamprad.
